How the November Budget Affects the Haulage Industry

Following an interesting article from the Road Haulage Association (RHA) regarding the government’s recent budget allocation, we thought we’d take a closer look at how the budget can affect things here at Kings Transport Services Ltd.

The budget according to RHA

Richard Burnett, the company’s chief executive, outlined the importance of improving the country’s road network, while he did also welcome the £30 billion dedicated to motorways and other major roads.
The Freight Transport Association (FTA) also weighed in, and the sentiment was similar. Describing the allocation of £420 million for potholes as a “drop in the ocean”, Christopher Snelling bemoaned the lack of investment in the UK’s roads over the years.
It is clear from these two bodies that there’s a perceived neglection in terms of the money our sector receives. While this year’s announcement was welcomed in one way, there’s still work to be done.

The budget from a Kings perspective

We always ensure that we keep up to date with political change here at Kings Transport Services Ltd. We’re also having to constantly ensure our processes are evolving with the times to ensure that we remain at the forefront of our industry.
For example, we consistently carry out staff training to help our continued development. Most obviously, our FORS accreditations ensure that we’re future-proofed and equipped to succeed moving forwards.
Another fantastic example of this approach is our cruise control training, which we ensured all of our employees took part in due to the ever-expanding Low Emission Zones (LEZs) in Greater London. We place a huge amount of importance on our environmental considerations, so this kind of training is extremely helpful in that respect.

Why it’s important

It’s extremely important that any company keeps up to date with political developments, and the budget allocation is no different. We always stay in touch with national and local developments, and we are sure to adapt to any changes as we continue to evolve and develop as a company.
